Big fat punju wedding – Indian Destination Photographer
I think I can safely strike out #22 from my 101 wish list. 2 new cities, line maroaing TC, almost ticketless train journey, bhatinda, freezing cold, warm hearts, friends, family, BUTTER!!!, drama, dal makhani, phulakari , baraat, FREEZ death, head massage, shagun, almost missing my train bk home, delayed flight, back to mumbai humidity….These were the highlights of the last wedding I shot. More pictures to come.
This is a shot of the vidai ceremony, a very emotional moment in the wedding. Vidaai is a post wedding ceremony, which takes place after the wedding rituals are completed.During the vidai ceremony the bride is accompanied by her parents and associates, which lead her outside the doorstep of the house. Before crossing the doorstep, she throws back three handfuls of rice and coins over her head, into the house. This symbolizes that the bride is repaying her parents for all that they have given her so far. (Source)
If you look closely the froom is wearing a galrland of notes (indian currency).
