Ever since Instagram announces its new algorithm timeline, many of the small businesses are anticipating this to adversely effect their businesses.
What does this mean? To put it in simple words now posts will no longer appear in chronological order and instead it will be sorted based on the likelihood of your interest in the content, your relationship with the person posting, and the timeliness of the post.
Basically Instagram will choose what to show and when, just like its cousin Facebook’s news feed.
I will admit that as a small business owner I am a late bloomer in this platform but I have managed to keep a float in the sea called Instagram with steadily increasing followers in a matter just a couple of weeks. Click on the link to follow me at Deepa Netto Photography
If we follow a few things, this change can be easily handled. Here are my 3 tips to tackle the Instagram algorithm change and thrive on the Instagram platform
1. Content is in the King Queen
When you come across the word ‘algorithm’, you do know that content you put out drives your visibility. Although primarily Instagram is a picture sharing platform ensure that you are putting content which will be interesting to your followers. Don’t go into long rants or stories keep it simple and interesting. Ensure that your content also keeps your audience engagement high.
2. Ching Ching
Is always good to put some of your change into advertising your Instagram account to the right audience. Another feature of Instagram is the option to call-to-action on your paid posts. This will enable you to drive traffic to your website where you can capture valuable data and eventually converting casual followers to customers.
3. #hastags are your new bbfs
Don’t be afraid to #hastag your images and videos. A lot of people regularly check and follow hashtags. You can put eyes on your content using #hastags which are meaningful and content related.
So don’t fret! This is not the end of the world or Instagram. You just need to put the effort to put valuable content and keep the engagement level on your post up you will win .
Happy gramming my fellow business owners.
