“A Bro is always entitled to do something stupid, as long as the rest of his Bros are all doing it.” ― Barney Stinson, The Bro Code
I love Barney Stinson from How I met your Mother. Most of the weddings I shoot, I generally end up spending time with the beautiful brides and the bridesmaid. However this doesn’t mean the boys are left unattended. As a wedding photographer I focus on capturing the camaraderie the boys share. After all these are the guys who stood thick and thin through with the groom over the years, some even dating as far their childhood days.
So why should all the girls have fun?
But men will be men. Trust me they are not the best when it comes to taking direction, especially with all the madness and nervousness looming over their heads. I generally like let them loose and have fun, with a tiny bit of direction of course.
So here are my 4 must have poses for the groomsmen aka the best men with or without the handsome groom.
Stack them up : Simple and no drama pose is basically stack them either alongside or one behind each other. I generally ask them to either walk so these guys are not conscious of the camera. Works like a charm every time and I end up with some model portfolio worthy pictures.
2. Getting Ready: Let the boys help out in fixing the groom’s suit creases or straightening the tie. No pressure of poses again
3. Up in the air: Defy the gravity and ask them to either jump up in the air or toss the soon to be wed groom in the air. This definitely lightens up the mood.
4.Fun unleash : There is always some quirky shit happening between these guys when they are left own their own and I always love capturing the fun element these boys share.
